Seeking Theatrical/Event Production Managers

Tinc Productions, a growing Production Management company is seeking professional, experienced theatrical and event production managers to join the team for commercial productions in New York City.

Here’s who we’re looking for:

You’re the type of person who thrives on taking care of things the right way, the first time instead of kicking the can down the road.  You don’t leave anything to chance and you understand that you are responsible for the manner in which full productions are executed; start to finish. You hold those whom you work with to the same standard.

You lead by example.  You approach challenges with flexibility and an open mind; never with anger or frustration.  When issues arise you tackle them through logic, not emotion.

You are an advocate for our clients and therefore take great care with their budgets, visions, and reputations.  You are diligent about safety and approach the production process with a safety-first mentality.  “Get it done at all costs” is not how you handle things.

You understand that as a Production Manager 90% of your job happens before you get on-site, but that last 10% is pretty important too.

You have at least 5-8 years of Theatrical or Event Production Management, or Associate Production Management experience, and are looking to work with a team that values transparency, communication and long term careers and clients.

If you were working with us on a project, here are some of the things you might have done in the last few weeks:

  • Collaborated with a General Manager on building the technical budget, schedule and requirements for a high profile theatrical run.
  • Facilitated discussions between the managers of other Tinc managed shows to ensure the two productions share resources effectively.
  • Coordinated with our production partners on rental quotes, orders and confirmed delivery and pickup times.
  • Coordinated with your staff to book employees on various calls taking into account their particular skills and the team dynamic you are creating onsite.
  • Drafted and implemented detailed safety procedures and plans, and facilitated emergency drills with the Venue and production staff.
  • Responded to emails, texts, and voice messages as soon as you received them.
  • Met with Tinc’s Director of Production to post mortem your projects, identifying areas of learning, and creating next steps for implementing new procedures to address that learning.
  • Joined the Tinc team for a drink and a pool game at a company networking night, where you spent time mentoring a junior manager.

Here are some other things you might find yourself doing:

  • Fostering an environment which is team-oriented and in which the exchange of ideas among staff is encouraged. Collecting feedback about processes, and discussing with the Tinc management team to find ways to better communicate and solve problems.
  • Standing in one place and always be able to be found onsite as you are the primary point person for our client.
  • Visiting the scenic shop and meeting the people actually building the set, and ensuring they don’t have any outstanding questions.
  • Brainstorming with your team about creative solutions that can save time, money, or will enhance the overall goal of the production.
  • Participating in a strategy conversation about the focus and path of the business, providing your input and suggestions for implementation.

Experience is important, but a calm, logical and positive attitude is paramount. We’re looking for individuals that are known for keeping control if the #%^& hits the fan.  As the ring leader for your projects, you dictate the atmosphere on-site for our clients and our employees, both of which are of equal importance to us.

If this sounds like something you’d love to do, we definitely want to hear from you.  Tinc is constantly in production phases on multiple productions.  Production Managers are assigned to projects based on the specific requirements of each show, as well as the desired team dynamic. Ideally we are looking for individuals to join us on a Project-by-project basis with the future goal of joining the team on a long term salaried basis.
